Phone · existing number
Connect your existing number
Your customers have been calling the same number for years. That doesn't change. You route the calls to Twilper, where the AI assistant answers, handles questions from your knowledge base and puts callers through to your team when needed. There are three ways to do it.
Three ways
Call forwarding
You keep your number and your current provider. You forward calls to your Twilper number: always, when you don't answer, or when you're busy.
Port your number
Your landline or 085 number moves to Twilper. Our team handles the switch with your current provider.
SIP trunk or phone system
Running your own phone system (PBX) or VoIP platform? Route calls to Twilper over SIP.
Option A · available now
Forward calls from your current number
The quickest route: set up in minutes, and you stay with your current provider, whether that's KPN, Vodafone, Odido (formerly T-Mobile), Ziggo, a VoIP provider such as Voys or Belcentrale, or any other carrier.
Choose when Twilper answers
- Always
- Every call goes straight to Twilper. The AI answers and puts callers through to your team when needed.
- On no answer
- Your own phones ring first. If nobody picks up (usually after 15 to 30 seconds), the AI takes over. A popular safety net.
- When busy
- If you're already on a call, the next caller goes to Twilper instead of voicemail.
- Unreachable or outside opening hours
- A mobile number can also forward when the phone is off or has no signal. Many VoIP providers can forward based on opening hours.
How to set it up
- 1
Activate your Twilper number
In your workspace under Phone, request your own Dutch 085 number (with your Chamber of Commerce extract) and set up the AI assistant, opening hours and call groups. This is the number you forward to.
- 2
Switch on forwarding at your provider
Landline or VoIP: in your provider's customer portal or app, usually under call forwarding. With a phone system, your administrator sets it in the call routing rules. Mobile: use the standard GSM codes below.
- 3
Call yourself to test
Call your own number from another phone. You'll hear Twilper's greeting and the call appears in your inbox.
GSM codes for mobile numbers
Replace the example with your own Twilper number in international format. These codes work with most mobile carriers in the Netherlands and Europe.
| Always forward | **21*+3185XXXXXXX# |
|---|---|
| On no answer | **61*+3185XXXXXXX# |
| On no answer after 20 seconds | **61*+3185XXXXXXX**20# |
| When busy | **67*+3185XXXXXXX# |
| When unreachable | **62*+3185XXXXXXX# |
| Cancel all forwarding | ##002# |
Good to know
- Your current provider charges the forwarded leg of the call under your existing plan. Twilper bills the minutes as for any call to your Twilper number.
- Whether the original caller's number is passed on depends on your provider. It usually is; test it to be sure.
- You can always go back: switch forwarding off and everything works as before.
Call our AI
+31 85 799 4200A Dutch number: try it now and talk to our AI assistant straight away — 24/7. It picks the language from your phone number's country code and answers in English, Dutch, German, French or Spanish. Ask about pricing, channels or integrations.
Option B · on request
Port your number to Twilper
Want to move to Twilper completely, without paying two providers? We port your landline or 085 number. This isn't automatic: our team manages the switch with your current provider and checks per number up front whether porting is possible.
Which numbers
- Dutch geographic landline numbers (such as 010, 020, 030) and 085 numbers: possible in most cases.
- Number ranges and multiple numbers in one request: possible, list them all.
- Mobile numbers (06) are not ported. Use call forwarding instead.
- 0800 and 0900 numbers: not via this route. Get in touch and we'll look at it with you.
- Numbers from other countries: ask us; availability differs per country.
What we need from you
- A signed Letter of Authorization (LOA). We send it to you pre-filled.
- A recent invoice from your current provider (no older than three months) showing the number, account holder name and address.
- A Chamber of Commerce (KvK) extract or equivalent company registration. The name must match the invoice.
- Your customer or contract number at your current provider, plus a porting code or PIN if your provider uses one.
How long it takes
- 1
Intake and check
Within a few business days of your request you'll know whether your number can be ported and which documents are still needed.
- 2
Port requested
We submit the request to your current provider. Allow roughly two to four weeks; this depends mostly on that provider and can take longer for number ranges.
- 3
Switch-over
On the agreed date your number switches over, usually within a few hours and without noticeable interruption. Until then everything keeps working through your old provider.
Don't cancel your current contract yourself before the number has been ported, or the number may be lost. Want to start with Twilper in the meantime? Set up forwarding first (option A).

SIP trunk or phone system (PBX)
For businesses with their own phone system, such as 3CX, Asterisk or FreePBX, or a hosted VoIP environment. You send calls to Twilper over a SIP route and keep your own dial plan.
- Decide which calls go to Twilper: all of them, overflow only, outside opening hours only, or a single department.
- Your administrator sets up a SIP trunk or route to Twilper's SIP domain. We provide the address and the credentials or IP allowlist after the intake.
- Transfers to your team keep working: the AI puts callers through to a number or extension you specify.
- We test the connection together before real calls go over it.
We set up SIP connections on request, together with your administrator or supplier.
